Erik Baldauf
Erik is a biophysicist interested in developing AI and automation tools to accelerate biotechnology research and, ultimately, in applying those tools to enable breakthroughs that translate into real-world applications.
He holds an MSc in Biophysics from the Technical University of Munich and a BSc in Physics from the University of Münster. At Plectonic Biotech, he developed and experimentally validated logic-gated T-cell engagers for cancer immunotherapy, combining computational methods, DNA nanotechnology, and wet-lab work.
He also contributed to Nucleate’s AI in Biotech initiative, organising talks and exploring how AI can accelerate biotechnology venture creation.
At Imperial College London, Erik has built generative models for protein-protein docking and design.
He has also worked with TUM’s AI-guided protein design lab on virtual cell models.
Erik now joins the Generative Biology DTP, where he will focus on machine-learning models for protein design.
